Poland has received a batch of South Korean-made ballistic missiles with a range of nearly 300 km. The missiles are mounted on a Polish-made vehicle chassis, according to the Polish Armaments Agency’s post on Twitter (X).

"The Polish Armed Forces have received another batch of missiles. This time, the delivery includes not only CGR-80 rockets but also CTM-290 missiles, which have a significantly longer range and are designed for the Homar-K system," the agency said.

As their names suggest, CGR-80 rockets have a range of up to 80 km, while CTM-290 missiles can reach targets up to 290 km away. The first missiles manufactured in Poland are expected to roll off the production line at a local facility as early as 2028.

What is known about the ballistic missiles

In April 2024, Poland signed a contract to purchase 72 Homar-K launchers and several thousand missiles with various ranges. The deal with South Korean company Hanwha Aerospace was valued at approximately $1.6 billion.

Homar-K is the Polish version of South Korea’s K239 Chunmoo multiple-launch rocket system. The system is mounted on an eight-wheeled Jelcz chassis and equipped with Poland’s TOPAZ fire-control system.

The launcher is fitted with two transport and launch containers. Each container can hold six CGR-080 rockets or one CTM-290 ballistic missile. Accordingly, a single Homar-K system can carry up to 12 guided rockets or two ballistic missiles at a time.

Earlier, Denis Shtilerman of Fire Point shared a photo of a nighttime launch of a Ukrainian missile, explaining that the FP-7 is a budget alternative to the US ATACMS system, with a range of up to 200 km, while the more powerful FP-9 variant can strike targets 800–850 km away.

In early August, Fire Point had developed its own turbojet engine, which could be used in the Flamingo cruise missile. According to the company’s CEO, Iryna Terekh, developing the engine proved more challenging than developing the missile itself.
