Ukraine is negotiating with Poland to receive two MiG-29 fighter jets. Details will be announced once the aircraft are transferred, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi.

Poland to provide MiG-29s

Tykhyi noted that efforts to secure Polish MiG-29s for Ukraine are underway.

"I can confirm that we are working with the Polish side to receive two MiG-29s. The military officials are primarily communicating with each other on this matter," he said.

The spokesperson noted that details would be announced once the aircraft have been transferred.

"We also thank Poland for its military assistance. I can confirm that there are currently no problems with the deliveries," the spokesperson said.

RBC-Ukraine previously reported that Poland would soon transfer two Soviet-made MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, along with ammunition.

In addition, Ukraine's Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bondar recently explained why Warsaw has not yet transferred the MiGs to Ukraine. The biggest obstacle is the lack of funding to modernize the aircraft.

As also reported, Poland is ready to transfer MiG-29s to Ukraine in exchange for drones and know-how technologies.
