Poland is ready to produce electricity for Ukraine at its coal-fired power plants - Tusk
Poland is working to be able to burn Polish coal without paying for emissions and to transfer the produced electricity to Ukraine for European money, according to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"The issue of energy is crucial. We are currently working on this in Poland, and our experts are discussing how we can directly assist Ukraine's electricity supply before the winter begins," Tusk said.
He emphasized that all energy facilities in Ukraine are at risk of attacks from Russia "for obvious reasons."
"At this time, we are working on the ability to burn Polish coal, which we currently have a lot, without paying for its burning, i.e. for emissions. and send the electricity produced by Polish power plants from Polish coal for European money to Ukraine through the existing energy bridge," the Polish Prime Minister explained.
According to him, this won't solve the electricity problem, but it can at least partially help Ukraine get through this difficult winter.
"And we will encourage all our partners to come up with creative ideas (to support Ukraine's energy sector - ed.)," Tusk added.
Assistance to Ukraine with electrical energy
Recently, we reported that Slovakia is preparing to increase electricity supplies to Ukraine during the autumn-winter period.
Additionally, Moldova has expressed readiness to ensure electricity supplies to Ukraine as part of the "gas for electricity" project.
