Slovakia is preparing to increase electricity supplies to Ukraine in the autumn and winter, according to Slovak President Peter Pellegrini.

Pellegrini noted that Slovakia really helps Ukraine a lot. According to him, this is evidenced by the increase in the production of ammunition and gun barrels at Slovak defense plants, as well as the export of electricity to Ukraine, whose power is being destroyed by Russian strikes.

"Since the beginning of the military conflict, Slovakia has supplied Ukraine with over 40,000 kWh of electricity, which has helped stabilize Ukraine's energy system to some extent. We are preparing for the autumn-winter season, which is likely to be critical for Ukraine," said the Slovak president.

He also emphasized that Slovakia does not recognize Russia's annexation of Crimea and the violent change of borders by Russia in eastern and southern Ukraine.

Slovakia's assistance to Ukraine

It should be noted that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has repeatedly expressed his pro-Russian rhetoric. In particular, he has insisted that the war is a "frozen conflict" and cannot be resolved through military aid to Ukraine.

Fico also refused to participate in providing funds for the Czech initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine.

In addition, he sharply criticized the initiative of Slovak citizens who began raising funds for ammunition for Ukraine on their own.

Later, the newly elected President of Slovakia, Peter Pellegrini, said that his country would help modernize the ammunition for Ukraine purchased under the Czech initiative.
