Poland scrambled strategic aircraft overnight due to Russia's massive attack on Ukraine, according to the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces announced this on X.
"Due to the activity of long-range aviation of the Russian Federation, which is carrying out strikes on the territory of Ukraine, Polish and allied aircraft have begun operations in our airspace," the command said.
It is known that in accordance with established procedures, the Operational Commander of the Polish Armed Forces, Raymund Andrzejczak, activated the forces and assets at his disposal.
On-duty fighter pairs and an airborne early warning aircraft were scrambled, while ground-based air defense systems and radar reconnaissance units were put on heightened alert.
These actions are preventive in nature and are aimed at ensuring security and protecting the airspace, especially in areas adjacent to the border regions.
The Operational Command of the Armed Forces is continuously monitoring the situation, and subordinate forces and assets remain ready for immediate response.
As known, overnight on February 22, the enemy carried out a massive shelling of Ukraine. The capital was also targeted, and a high-rise building in Kyiv caught fire after a ballistic missile attack.
In total, the Russians launched drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles at Ukrainian cities overnight on Sunday.
