Poland considers three-month ban on access to border area with Belarus
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland has proposed closing the border zone with Belarus for several months, according to the relevant draft resolution.
According to the document, access is proposed to be restricted to several districts of the Podlaskie Voivodeship, which is located on the border with Belarus. The Ministry of Internal Affairs explains that the restrictions are proposed due to a recent increase in migration pressure.
"The Belarusian state services actively participate (covertly or openly) in attacks on soldiers, police officers, and border guards who are carrying out their tasks to protect the state border," the draft resolution specifies.
It also emphasizes that the measures will ensure the safety of Polish border guards stationed on the border with Belarus and prevent unauthorized individuals from accessing them.
The restrictions are proposed to be introduced from June 4 and may last for 90 days.
