Poland and US to sign $2 billion deal for Patriot support – Bloomberg

Poland and the United States plan to sign a $2 billion contract for logistical support of Patriot systems. This could strengthen the country's air defense, Bloomberg reports.
"Air defense is the biggest investment into the Polish army, requiring the largest funds. This is the protection of the Polish sky, this is within Polish airspace - so it is an absolute priority for us and it is very good that there is a Polish-American cooperation in this area," Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said.
Meanwhile, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called on the EU to create an air defence shield to strengthen the bloc's ability to deter aggression.
Providing technical support and training is the final step to making the Patriot batteries fully operational in Poland.
Earlier, we reported that Poland signed a $1.23 billion contract for the production of 48 M903 launchers, which are part of the Patriot air defense system.
Later, it became known that Germany plans to redeploy Patriot air defense systems to Poland in early 2025. The systems will be deployed for up to six months to protect the key logistics hub that delivers materials to Ukraine.
Additionally, Polish President Andrzej Duda has expressed readiness to host NATO nuclear weapons on Polish territory.
