On Friday, August 9, the city of Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region came under heavy Russian shelling. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy showcased the devastating aftermath of the attack.

The President highlighted that rescue operations are ongoing at the impact site, with people still trapped under the rubble.

"Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region. Russian terrorists hit an ordinary supermarket and a post office. There are people under the rubble. A rescue operation is underway, and everything will be done to save them," wrote Zelenskyy.

Zelenskyy announced that the shelling of Kostiantynivka resulted in the deaths of four people and left at least 24 others injured.

"Russia will be held accountable for this terror, and we will do our best to ensure that the world continues to stand with Ukraine in supporting our defense and saving the lives of our people," he added.

Strike on Kostiantynivka

Earlier today, August 9, it was reported that Russian forces shelled the city of Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region. The strike hit the local Ekomarket supermarket, causing a large-scale fire.

In addition, the occupiers targeted a branch of Nova Poshta in Kostiantynivka. The postal building suffered significant damage, and one of the Nova Poshta employees sustained a shell shock as a result of the strike.

Kostiantynivka is located near the frontline, close to Chasiv Yar, where intense fighting is ongoing.
