Pentagon estimates Russia’s spending on war against Ukraine since 2022
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has spent more than $200 billion on the war against Ukraine, according to Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin.
“And meanwhile, Russia has paid a staggering price for Putin's folly. Russia has suffered at least 700,000 casualties since February 2022. It's squandered more than $200 billion,” the Pentagon chief said.
He also added that Russia's losses in the first year of the full-scale war alone are greater than Moscow's losses in all its conflicts since World War II combined.
Record amount for war
On December 8, Putin signed the law on Russia's budget for 2025, which provides for 13.5 trillion rubles (over $145 billion) for defense, which is more than in 2024.
According to Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, all Russia's actions so far indicate that it considers the scenario of a full-scale war against Ukraine as a basic one. At the same time, Kyiv's position remains unchanged - peace through strength.
