Russia views war scenario as basic, Ukrainian position is unchanged, Ukraine's expert
Currently, all of Russia's actions suggest that it is considering the scenario of continuing the war as the baseline. Ukraine's position remains unchanged - peace through strength, Andriy Kovalenko, Head of Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation, reports.
"So far, all the actions of the Russians indicate that they are considering the scenario of continuing the war as the baseline. The pace of recruiting contract soldiers is decreasing, despite high payments. It would seem that if Russia wanted to end the war, they would not do anything about this. But on the contrary," Kovalenko said.
According to the Head of Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation, Russia is currently limiting the reservation for security forces and military-industrial complex workers, which creates the potential for a new wave of mobilization.
This decision is unpopular even in Russia, but dictator Vladimir Putin's reluctance to lose the war, combined with a recent record defense and propaganda budget, creates the impression that the Kremlin wishes to "pause" diplomatically to rebuild its forces.
"Against this background, Ukraine's position is very clear - peace through strength. And the harsh statement by the US Special Envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, towards Moscow also shows that the Kremlin's trick will not work with the United States," Kovalenko added.
Possible negotiations between Russia and Ukraine
The 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump, has repeatedly stated his intention to initiate peace talks between Ukraine and Russia if he returns to the presidency. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warns that a hasty end to the war could pose serious threats to Ukraine.
Recently, media sources revealed another version of Trump's so-called "peace plan," which includes European forces in a buffer zone between Ukraine and Russia.
