Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh confirmed the US commitment to continue military assistance to Ukraine. She stated that presidential aid packages and the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) would remain active through the end of the current administration’s term.

"We still have approximately $2 billion left in USAI as well that we can commit. So you're going to continue to see packages roll out in the coming weeks before the end of this administration," Singh emphasized.

She noted that military support would continue regularly and stressed that aid to Ukraine enjoys bipartisan support in Congress, an important factor, especially given the upcoming administration change in January.

"Support for Ukraine remains strong," she added.

When journalists asked about the possibility of immediately allocating $9 billion, Singh explained that approximately $4 billion remains in the already allocated budget and added, "The president has committed to getting the rest of the Ukraine aid out before the rest of his term."

When asked about accountability risks with new funding tranches, Singh underscored confidence in the Pentagon's processes: "We're confident in the transparency of that process, and we're also confident in the support that Ukraine has from this administration and from Congress, that they will continue to get those, whether it's capability systems, that will continue to flow to the battlefield."

US assistance to Ukraine

Since the start of the full-scale war, the US has become one of Ukraine's largest donors. This aid spans many areas, from military support (weapons, ammunition, intelligence) to humanitarian aid (food, medicine, temporary shelter).

In addition, the US provides significant financial assistance to support Ukraine's economy and budget.

Earlier, Politico reported that US President Joe Biden's administration plans to "urgently" send $6 billion in aid to Ukraine.
