'Peace in Ukraine appears to be out of reach in the immediate future': German MoD urges to arm Ukraine

Ukraine needs to receive military assistance from the West to be able to repel Moscow. A quick peace is not in sight right now, says German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius at a Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting.
“Peace in Ukraine appears to be out of reach in the immediate future,” he said.
Pistorius announced plans to ensure that Ukraine receives joint military support from the West. “We will ensure that Ukraine continues to benefit from our joint military support,” the minister added.
European assistance
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said that European countries have already allocated more than €23 billion in military aid to Ukraine this year, which is more than last year.
Germany decided to increase military aid to Ukraine by 3 billion euros this year, bringing the total amount to 7 billion euros.
The total amount of official Berlin's support for Ukraine has already reached more than 43 billion euros, 15 billion euros of which were allocated for military needs.
According to the Kiel Institute, as of February, Europe has clearly outpaced the United States in terms of aid to Ukraine, having allocated €70 billion in financial and humanitarian aid, as well as €62 billion in military aid. The United States allocated €64 billion in military aid and €50 billion in financial and humanitarian aid.
The IMF has updated its baseline scenario, according to which Russia's war against Ukraine will end at the end of 2025. This scenario assumes that Ukraine's economy will grow by 2-3% in 2025 and accelerate to 4.5% in 2026.
