President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a meeting with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, thanked Germany for an additional €3 billion in aid to Ukraine. This brings the total support for this year to €7 billion, according to the official website of the President of Ukraine.

At a joint press conference in Kyiv on April 1, the head of state stated that the Ukrainian side is grateful to Germany “for significant assistance.”

As Zelenskyy noted, Germany is the leader in Europe in terms of the amount of aid provided to Ukraine.

The total amount of support from official Berlin already exceeds €43 billion, €15 billion of which has been allocated for military needs, according to the President’s Office.

It is also noted that Germany “has made a significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s air defense: this includes six IRIS-T systems, three Patriot systems, as well as Gepard anti-aircraft installations.”

Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the Bundestag for approving the decision to provide Ukraine with an additional €3 billion. The President’s Office noted that, in this way, the total support from Germany in 2025 will amount to €7 billion.

Zelenskyy-Baerbock discussion

The Ukrainian president and the German foreign minister, during their meeting in Kyiv, also discussed the results of the leaders' meeting on supporting the Ukrainian side in Paris and “the development of formats for security guarantees.”

“Ukraine also counts on support from Germany on the path to EU membership, in particular regarding the fastest possible opening of the first negotiation cluster,” the President’s Office stated.

For her part, Baerbock noted that Germany “will continue to support Ukraine, which is today defending the peace and security of all of Europe.”

“We will stay with Ukraine for as long as necessary. The German government will continue to support the achievement of a just peace and your EU membership,” said the German foreign minister.

As previously reported, during a joint briefing with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, President Zelenskyy also expressed hope that Ukraine would receive long-range Taurus missiles from Germany after the new chancellor, Friedrich Merz, takes office.

Additionally, on March 22, Germany took the final step toward allocating €3 billion to Ukraine.
