Over 700 national security officials endorse Harris for presidency of US - Axios
More than 700 national security and military personnel have endorsed Kamala Harris for the position of President of the United States, Axios reports.
As noted, in a joint letter from national security and military personnel, they state that Harris "defends America's democratic ideals," while former President Donald Trump "endangers" them."
A few days earlier, over 100 Republican leaders in the field of national security endorsed Harris, including nine officials who had worked in Trump's White House.
Several polls show Harris leading Trump. Specifically, according to a Sunday poll by NBC News, the Democrat leads the Republican nationally with 49% to 44%.
Additionally, a Washington Post poll shows that Harris has a slight advantage in four "battleground" states.
In the letter, Trump is criticized for praising "adversarial dictators," including China's Xi Jinping, North Korea's Kim Jong Un, and Russia's Vladimir Putin, as well as terrorist leaders from Hezbollah, while simultaneously disgracing the US.
The statement says that Trump threatens the US. democratic system by calling for the "termination" of certain parts of the US Constitution, and "his comments about potentially being a dictator for a day were not reassuring."
"First, we believe America's national security requires a serious and capable Commander-in-Chief. Second, we believe American democracy is invaluable. Each generation has a responsibility to defend it. That is why we, the undersigned, proudly endorse Kamala Harris to be the next President of the United States" the letter states.
