Israeli fighter jets struck Tehran overnight on June 20. One of the targets was the building of Iran's Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research, according to Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Effie Defrin, as reported by the IDF.

"Throughout the night, over 50 Israeli Air Force fighter jets continuously flew over Tehran, striking infrastructure and targets. We hit dozens of components of the Iranian threat in all its forms," said Defrin.

He added that the targets of the attack were sites connected to Iran's nuclear weapons program — specifically, military-industrial facilities used to produce missile components and raw materials for rocket engines.

"These targets were located in the industrial center of Iran's Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics. In addition, we struck the building of the Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research (SPND) — the headquarters of Iran's nuclear program in Tehran," Defrin emphasized.

The IDF spokesperson clarified that this headquarters was used for research and development in the field of advanced weaponry. He added that another facility producing key components for Iran's nuclear weapons program was also hit.

Israel also carried out a series of strikes in western Iran, targeting missile launch and storage sites.

"The Iranians had planned a larger-scale attack on Be'er Sheva this morning. Before the launch, we detected the deployment of three launchers ready to fire and neutralized them," Defrin added.

Israel's strikes on Iran

It has now been exactly one week since the start of Israel's military operation against Iran. Israel has already managed to partially destroy Iran's air defense systems and strike a number of key targets.

In particular, Israel has attacked several Iranian facilities involved in the production of enriched uranium — a critical component for developing nuclear weapons.

As former Israeli Ambassador to Russia Arkady Mil-Man noted in a comment to RBC-Ukraine's YouTube channel, the operation is now in its second phase: the destruction of Iran's nuclear facilities.
