The European Union has confirmed its readiness to provide Ukraine with a €90 billion loan. The support will continue regardless of the global political situation, as the security of Europe is at stake, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, stated.

The head of the European Commission assured that the EU will fulfill its commitments to Kyiv despite any external circumstances. She confirmed the allocation of the large-scale loan, which is critical to Ukraine’s stability.

"I can assure you that we will, in this case, deliver on our commitments. Because our credibility and, more importantly, our security is at stake. We will deliver this €90 billion loan," she said.

She added that Europe will always stand by Ukraine, and that the war must end with a just peace that will not allow the seeds of future conflicts to grow.

Sabotage from Orbán

Hungary, under the leadership of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, is obstructing Ukraine’s access to €90 billion in macro-financial assistance from the European Union. Budapest says the main condition for unblocking the funds is the restoration of the Druzhba pipeline.

Due to this position of the Hungarian side, Kyiv risks facing a budget shortfall as early as spring.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy hinted at radical measures if the sabotage continues. Orbán, in turn, interpreted this as a threat to Hungary’s national security and warned of a potential forceful resolution regarding the transit of oil.
