Orbán threatens to block Ukraine's entry into EU and NATO

Upon his arrival at the NATO summit in The Hague, the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has once again voiced his opposition to Ukraine's accession to the EU and NATO, vowing to block the process.
"NATO has no business in Ukraine. Ukraine is not a member of NATO, and neither is Russia. My job is to keep it as it is," Orbán said when asked by journalists about Volodymyr Zelenskyy's participation in the summit.
The Hungarian Prime Minister also claimed that Ukraine's potential accession to the European Union carries the risk of escalating the war for the EU. At the same time, he emphasized that he does not see Russia as a real threat to NATO.
"I think Russia is not strong enough to represent a real threat to us. We are far stronger," Orbán stated.
Yesterday, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that several NATO member countries allegedly do not want to see Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the summit in The Hague. According to Orbán, this includes Hungary, Slovakia, the United States, and Türkiye.
However, according to RBC-Ukraine sources, today, June 25, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to meet with his American counterpart Donald Trump on the sidelines of the NATO summit in The Hague. In addition to the meeting with the US leader, Zelenskyy's agenda includes meetings with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
Hungary blocks Ukraine's EU accession
Hungary is blocking the start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has repeatedly stated that he does not support Ukraine's EU membership.
Previously, Orbán declared that he would do everything in his power to prevent Ukraine from joining the European Union - saying that otherwise, his "conscience would suffer."
The Prime Minister also initiated a public survey among Hungarians to gather their opinion on Ukraine's potential accession to the EU.
