Only Trump's approval needed to launch Patriot missile production in Ukraine — Zelenskyy

Ukraine has all the technical capabilities needed to produce missiles for Patriot systems. The only requirement to begin is a United States license, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says.
He noted that the Trump administration recognizes the issue and has expressed readiness to resolve it.
"They see that production in the United States stands at around 700 missiles per year. They transferred licenses to the Germans, and Germany has now started production," the president explained.
Contract with Germany
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine has already signed a contract with Germany for 600 Patriot missiles, which he described as "a good contract worth a substantial amount." However, the president noted that deliveries are a lengthy process.
Production in Ukraine
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine, like Germany, has the technical capability to produce its own missiles for the Patriot air defense system.
"We have reached the point where now only a personal OK from Trump is needed. Everyone else agrees," the president said, referring to the leadership of European and American defense manufacturers.
Notably, at the G7 summit, Trump responded positively to Zelenskyy's request for Patriot missiles.
According to the head of state, "licenses for the production of our missiles are being viewed positively by the American side for the first time."
During the Biden administration, Kyiv raised this issue repeatedly but never received anything.
