Russian forces have just struck Zaporizhzhia in Ukraine with guided aerial bombs. The attack killed one person and left others injured, Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration head Ivan Fedorov reports.

Strike aftermath

The assault targeted a residential neighborhood of single-family homes in the city. The strike injured civilians, damaged residential buildings, and sparked fires in several locations.

Video released by local authorities shows several vehicles burning on a city street.

One person was killed in the attack. Authorities also said another person is believed to be trapped under the rubble.

"Two people were injured in the enemy attack on Zaporizhzhia. Both are suffering from acute stress reactions and are under medical supervision," Fedorov later added.

Later, reports emerged that the person was taken from under the rubble alive. Services are taking the survivor to the hospital.

As previously reported, this is not the first recent attack on the city of Zaporizhzhia. Earlier, a Russian guided aerial bomb destroyed a private home in the city, killing one person.

In that incident, emergency responders rescued a 22-year-old man alive from beneath the rubble.

Before that, Russian forces also launched a large-scale attack targeting several regions simultaneously, including Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk.

Dozens of people were injured in that attack.
