Denmark will provide Ukraine with almost half as much financial assistance in 2026 as it did this year. The amount will drop to 9.4 billion Danish kroner (almost 1.5 billion dollars) instead of 16.5 billion (nearly 2.6 billion dollars), DR reports.

Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said the country will significantly reduce its financial support for Ukraine next year. While the current level is 16.5 billion kroner, in 2026 it will fall to 9.4 billion.

For comparison, in 2024, Denmark allocated nearly 19 billion kroner (around 3 billion dollars) to Ukraine. But the reductions will not stop there — in 2027 Copenhagen plans to send Kyiv 7.1 billion kroner (1.1 billion dollars), and in 2028 just 1 billion kroner (156 million dollars).

Ukraine Fund

In 2023, Denmark's parliamentary majority approved the creation of the Ukraine Fund, an economic framework that determines the amount of assistance Copenhagen will provide to Kyiv.

So far, Denmark has supplied Ukraine with more than 70 billion kroner (about 11 billion dollars) in military aid, but the money is running out.

"The problem is that we haven't allocated new funds for a long time," said Danish politician Stinus Lindgreen.

Recently, the Danish government and the parliamentary defense committee agreed on the details of the 28th military aid package for Ukraine, worth 1.4 billion kroner (about 217 million dollars).

It includes an additional 100 million kroner (15.6 million dollars) for the Danish model — a joint weapons production program in Ukraine.

More than 370 million kroner (almost 58 million dollars) will go to the PURL initiative, which provides for the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine, and 80 million kroner (12.5 million dollars) will be allocated for fuel procurement through NATO's Support and Procurement Agency.
