The Danish government and the parliamentary defense committee on Tuesday approved the details of the 28th military aid package for Ukraine worth 1.4 billion Danish kroner (around $217 million), according to Denmark's Ministry of Defense.

The new package includes additional funding of 100 million kroner for the Danish model — a joint weapons production program in Ukraine.

Over 370 million kroner will go toward the PURL initiative, which provides for the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine, while 80 million kroner will be used to procure fuel through the NATO Support and Procurement Agency.

"With this aid package, we will provide Ukraine with a range of critical combat capabilities in the coming months through the Danish model and the PURL initiative," said Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.

PURL Program

PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) is a joint initiative between the United States and NATO designed to accelerate weapons deliveries to Ukraine. Under this program, a priority list of Ukraine's defense needs is compiled and shared with allies for quick procurement funding.

Partner countries transfer funds to a special NATO account, after which the United States ensures the delivery of weapons based on Ukraine’s requests.

In September, the administration of President Donald Trump approved the first two military aid packages for Ukraine under the PURL program.

On October 14, US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker said that the new announcements on weapons deliveries through this mechanism are expected soon.

Ukraine's Ministry of Defense explained that the PURL program would significantly speed up weapons supplies from partner nations.

Recently, Latvia delivered more than two dozen Patria armored personnel carriers to Ukraine. In addition, Riga contributed €2.2 million to the PURL initiative and funded the Shelter Coalition.
