Ukraine received 21 Patria 6x6 armored personnel carriers from Latvia. The transfer of the vehicles took place in Riga at the Adazi military base, according to Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal.

"Thank you to Defense Minister Andris Spruds, the Latvian government, and all Latvians for their steadfast support. These vehicles will immediately enter service with Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In total, Ukraine has received all 42 armored vehicles promised for 2025." Shmyhal says.

He also notes that Latvia had transferred 12 more CVR(T) combat reconnaissance vehicles to Ukraine as part of the previously announced military aid package.

"We are also grateful for an additional contribution of €2.2 million to the PURL initiative and for financial support to the Shelter Coalition," the Defense Minister adds.

Latvia's participation in the NATO Renovatore project to rebuild five military rehabilitation centers in Ukraine is also extremely important.

He adds that the struggle continues, and Russia is only increasing the pressure. Ukraine is counting on the implementation of financing through a so-called reparations loan from frozen Russian assets. Joint decisive steps are needed on this issue, as it concerns the security of both Ukraine and other European countries.

Patria armored vehicles

The Patria 6x6 armored personnel carrier was developed in Finland, and its serial production is established in Latvia. The plant's capacity allows it to manufacture up to 160 units of this equipment annually. The Patria 6x6 is in service with the armed forces of Finland, Sweden, and Latvia.

The vehicle is primarily designed for transporting personnel, but it can be adapted for other tasks. Depending on the configuration, the Armed Forces of Ukraine can equip the Patria 6x6 with machine guns, 25/30 mm combat modules, or a 120 mm Patria Nemo mortar system.

The total weight of the armored personnel carrier is about 24 tons, of which up to 8.5 tons is combat load. The maximum speed is up to 100 km/h.

Back in February this year, the Latvian Ministry of Defense announced that it had ordered Patria 6x6 armored personnel carriers for delivery to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In July, Ukraine received the first batch of Patria 6x6 armored personnel carriers from Latvia.
