Ukraine has received the first batch of Patria 6x6 armored personnel carriers from Latvia. A total of 42 vehicles will be transferred, said Ukraine's Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal after holding talks with his Latvian counterpart, Andris Spruds.

"Grateful for Latvia’s contribution to strengthening our defense capabilities — in particular, for providing UAVs to the Defense Forces and the recent decision to supply 42 Patria 6x6 armored vehicles. The first batch has already been delivered to Ukraine," Shmyhal said.

The Minister did not disclose the number of armored personnel carriers received in the first batch.

The two ministers also discussed the needs of Ukrainian forces and the potential for joint drone production.

“We agreed on next steps in our cooperation, including stepping up our dialogue with the Nordic-Baltic Eight countries," Shmyhal added.
