Odesa under attack: Fires rage, landmarks hit in Russian strike

Russia launched a drone attack on Odesa overnight on July 24, targeting the city with Iranian-made Shahed drones, according to a statement from Odesa Regional Military Administration head Oleh Kiper.
“Despite the active work of air defense, there is damage to civilian infrastructure. Multiple fires have broken out across the city,” Kiper reported.
Preliminary information indicates that two floors of a residential high-rise caught fire. A blaze also erupted on the roof of a two-story building. Fires were additionally reported at several commercial kiosks and a gas station.
“There is also damage to architectural landmarks in the historic center of Odesa, which is under UNESCO protection. Information about the injured is being clarified,” he added.
Updated at 3:40 a.m. Kyiv time: City Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov reported that the world-famous Primorskyi Boulevard was hit during the attack.

Russian strikes on Odesa
On July 19, Russia attacked Odesa with Shahed drones. During that strike, several floors of a residential high-rise caught fire. One woman was killed.
On the night of July 22, the city was again targeted in a Russian attack. As a result of the shelling, fires broke out and one person was injured.
On the night of July 23, during another drone attack, the regional administration reported that air defense systems were in operation. Several explosions were heard in the city.
