Number of Russian drones that entered Belarus in 2024 revealed
Nearly four hundred Russian Shahed-type kamikaze drones entered Belarusian airspace in 2024. Russian forces used these drones for attacks on Ukraine. The highest number of incidents occurred in November and December, reports the monitoring group Belaruski Hajun.
According to Belaruski Hajun, a total of 395 Russian drone incursions into Belarus were recorded in 2024. These drones entered from both Ukrainian and Russian territory.
Out of these drones, five were identified as reconnaissance drones.
"Over the year, 10 cases of Shahed drones being shot down or crashing in Belarus and Latvia were confirmed. Additionally, one building was destroyed due to a UAV crash," reports Hajun.
In the final month of the year, at least 145 Russian Shaheds entered Belarus. These drones crossed the country's airspace on December 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, and 31.
Notably, 36 drones returned to Ukraine and Russia from Belarus in December, while 109 disappeared.
Regarding the overall data for 2024, Hayun provides the following figures:
- In July, 9 Russian drones entered Belarus.
- In August, 12 UAVs.
- In September, 29 UAVs.
- In October, 49 UAVs.
- In November, 151 UAVs.
- In December, 145 UAVs.
Of the total 395 drones that entered Belarus in 2024, 196 returned to Ukraine and Russia. Another 189 disappeared, and 10 were shot down or crashed in Belarus and Latvia.
It was previously reported that a Shahed drone, which attacked Ukraine on the night of December 22, flew 170 kilometers through Belarus.
Additionally, according to the monitoring group Belaruski Hajun, on November 3, Shahed drones entered Belarus while a helicopter with self-declared president Alexander Lukashenko was in the sky.
