Russian Shaheds flew into Belarus while Lukashenko's helicopter was up in sky
Russian attack drones entered Belarus on Thursday, October 3, at a time when a helicopter carrying Belarusian self-proclaimed president Alexander Lukashenko was in the air, citing Belaruski Hayun.
According to monitoring groups, at around 12:55, three kamikaze drones crossed from the Chernihiv region of Ukraine into the Gomel region of Belarus.
Two Shahed drones crossed into Belarusian airspace near the village of Nova Huta and moved in the direction of Gomel. Another drone entered near the village of Loyew, heading towards Khoyniki.
At the moment the Shaheds entered Belarus, Lukashenko's helicopter was in the sky. The helicopter was flying southward from the Ozerny residence. According to preliminary data, Lukashenko was traveling to the town of Mikashevichi in the Brest region.
This is not the first time Russian drones have strayed into Belarus during attacks. On several occasions, Belarus has shot down Russian UAVs.
Russian drone attack
Last night, the Russian military launched 105 attack drones against Ukraine. Air defense systems were active across 15 regions of the country.
Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 78 drones, while 23 were lost to location errors. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that one Shahed drone flew towards Belarus.
Monitoring groups also reported that on October 3, Russian forces launched more drones towards Ukraine, with Shahed movements recorded in the Sumy, Kyiv, and Chernihiv regions.
