Not Trump’s victory: Political expert names key election risk for Ukraine
The main risk for Ukraine could be a political crisis due to uncertainty surrounding the results of the elections in the United States. Currently, the ratings of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are almost the same.
"I believe that the political crisis resulting from uncertainty about the results of the elections in the US could be the main risk for us. It's not Trump's victory... There are certain concerns about Trump, but the main risk is that a political crisis may arise," said Volodymyr Fesenko, head of the Center for Applied Political Studies "Penta", in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
According to him, this is due to the fact that today the ratings of Trump and Harris are almost equal.
"For example, in Georgia, a crisis arose because it was also 50/50, and there were suspicions of falsification. We remember that in the US there was already a situation when Trump's supporters stormed the Capitol. The risks are significant. This is the worst-case scenario that could happen," the political expert noted.
He emphasized that this scenario would primarily be negative for the United States itself and could lead to civil war.
Elections in the US
The presidential election in the US will take place on November 5. The candidates for this position are the current Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, and former American leader Donald Trump.
Yesterday, media reports indicated that Harris's lead over Trump in the election race had narrowed to 1%. Currently, Harris has 44% voter support, while Trump has 43%.
