Ukraine is ready to discuss with its European partners the possibility of introducing localized ceasefire formats with Russia, states Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha during a conversation with journalists, according to Ukrinform.
According to him, the possible options include an "airport," "energy," or "port" ceasefire. At the same time, the minister noted that it is necessary to choose one specific case and work it out within a defined timeframe in order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach.
Andrii Sybiha said the issue is planned to be discussed in detail at a meeting with the foreign ministers of the European Union member states.
"It is necessary for this to also be discussed with the Russian side. It could be an airport ceasefire, it could be an energy ceasefire, or it could be a port ceasefire," he noted.
The foreign minister stressed that Ukraine's key position is to prioritize one specific issue in order to confirm the "success of this track."
Sybiha recently stated that Ukraine "probably needs a new role for Europe" in peace negotiations, as the diplomatic process under US auspices has slowed down, while the Russian dictator has shown no readiness for a broader agreement to end the war.
At the same time, the Kremlin threatened a series of strikes on Kyiv and called on foreigners to leave the city. The Institute for the Study of War explained that this was not a response to Ukraine's actions, but rather a consequence of the aggressor state's own failures.
In addition, Sybiha stressed that the remarks made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in a conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding possible strikes on Kyiv were an outright provocation and demonstrated the Kremlin's interest in continuing the war.
