Not just Trump and Putin: Zelenskyy wants another world leader to join negotiations

Ukraine supports the possibility of a four-party meeting on a peace agreement involving the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, Türkiye, and the United States, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"I just had a good and very meaningful conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. I thanked him personally, as well as of Türkiye for their principled position in support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our state," the President said.
He noted that he and Erdoğan discussed the first meeting between Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul.
"Prisoner exchange is an important achievement, but unfortunately, the only one so far. There must be a ceasefire to move forward toward peace. The killing must be stopped," the President noted.
He said that he and the Turkish leader discussed the possibility of the next meeting in Istanbul and the conditions under which Ukraine would be ready to participate.
"We both agree that this meeting cannot and should not be meaningless. We also discussed the possibility of organizing a four-party meeting at the level of leaders of Ukraine, Russia, Türkiye, and the United States,” Zelenskyy said.
He also mentioned that they discussed Türkiye's participation in the Ukraine–Southeast Europe Summit.
"Thank you for the steps and ideas that could bring the necessary results," the Ukrainian President concluded.
Ukraine-Russia negotiations
We previously reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had planned a telephone conversation with the Turkish leader. RBC-Ukraine reported on the purpose of this conversation.
Russia recently proposed holding a second round of negotiations on June 2 in Istanbul.
Ukraine has declared its readiness for further negotiations with Russia, but before the meeting, it wants to receive a so-called memorandum from Moscow regarding a possible truce.
In particular, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sibiha said that Russia must provide Ukraine with a memorandum before the second round of negotiations so that the upcoming meeting of the delegations would be substantive and meaningful.
Later, Zelenskyy's Office sets conditions for Russia to negotiate.
