'Not going to end any time soon': US Vice President expresses doubt over swift end to war in Ukraine

US Vice President JD Vance does not believe in a quick end to Russia's war against Ukraine - contradicting Trump's earlier promises, BBC reports citing Vance's statement.
In particular, the Vice President noted that the current goal of the United States is to help Russia and Ukraine "find a compromise position" to end the war.
"Now that each side knows the other's conditions for peace, it's going to be up to (Russia and Ukraine - ed.) to come to an agreement and stop this brutal, brutal conflict," Vance said in an interview with Fox News.
At the same time, the US Vice President believes the war will not end anytime soon.
"This isn't going anywhere, Bret (Fox News anchor Bret Baier - ed.). This is not going to end any time soon", Vance added.
The US Vice President also defended Trump's approach to Ukraine in the interview.
"Yes, of course, (the Ukrainians - ed.) are angry that they were invaded. But are we going to continue to lose thousands and thousands of soldiers over a few miles of territory this or that way?" Vance stated.
Trump wants quick end to war
Even before winning the election, Donald Trump had claimed he would quickly end Russia's war against Ukraine and bring both sides to the negotiating table.
After Trump's return to the White House, Western media reported that the new administration wanted to take swift action within the first 100 days in office and was allegedly preparing a peace plan. However, no official plan has been presented.
Recently, Trump said that his previous statements about ending the war in a day were figurative and exaggerated. US Vice President JD Vance stated that the Trump administration would work on a peace deal for another 100 days.
