After winning the US elections, Donald Trump plans to bring familiar faces into his national security team. It is known that he does not intend to retain former generals, according to Axios.

Trump does not want former generals on his national security team, instead preferring businessmen and CEOs.

A former senior official from the Trump administration stated that it is hard to predict whom Trump will choose to appoint.

The official noted that what matters most to Trump is that his new national security team helps implement his policy rather than obstruct it, as his team did during the early part of his first term.

It is worth mentioning that during Trump's previous term, his senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner primarily managed Middle East affairs. Kushner developed the Israeli-Palestinian peace plan and negotiated the Abraham Accords between Israel, the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan.

The agency also mentioned several individuals who could return with Trump, including:

  • Avi Berkowitz, who worked with Kushner on the Israeli-Palestinian peace plan and the Abraham Accords;
  • David Friedman, who served as US ambassador to Israel during Trump's first administration;
  • Former Trump envoy Jason Greenblatt and Friedman's chief of staff Aryeh Lightstone may also return to work on Middle East affairs.

It is worth noting that today one of Trump's Pentagon head candidates refused an appointment. More details can be found in the material by RBC-Ukraine.

Additionally, RBC-Ukraine reported on other potential candidates for the role of US Secretary of Defense under Trump.
