Norway to allocate 250 million euros to restore Ukrainian energy sector
Norway will allocate a new aid package to restore Ukraine's energy infrastructure. The amount of support is 3 billion Norwegian krone (250 million euros), according to the press service of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ministry reminded that Norway intends to increase this year's assistance to Ukraine by 5 billion Norwegian krone (over 302 million euros).
Of this amount, NOK 1.5 billion (over 90 million euros) is planned to be additionally allocated for energy and preparations for the upcoming winter in Ukraine.
"We are working to increase support to the energy sector, and we hope to announce additional allocations during the autumn and winter, to further support our Ukrainian friends," said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway Espen Barth Eide.
Thus, the total support for Ukraine's energy sector from Norway will amount to 3 billion Norwegian krone (250 million euros).
Norway's support for Ukraine
In April, it was reported that Norway had provided military assistance to Ukraine amounting to €90 million in recent months.
In June, Norway allocated 1.1 billion krone (approximately $74 million) for the restoration of energy facilities in Ukraine that had been damaged by Russian strikes.
In September, it was announced that Norway would transfer 570 million Norwegian krone (48.28 million euros) to the International Fund for Ukraine. These funds will be used to purchase drones and air defense systems for the Ukrainian military.
Additionally, it was recently reported that the Norwegian government plans to increase its assistance to Ukraine.
Last week, Norway allocated $88 million for the expansion of weapon production for Ukraine.
