Norway is significantly strengthening the Ukrainian air defenses, helping destroy Russian strike drones and other aerial threats, Ukraine's Ministry of Defense reports.

With support from Norway and other partners, Ukraine is expanding the capabilities of its F-16 fighter jets. Norwegian assistance is also helping scale up other counter-drone systems, including turrets and interceptor drones.

"Among our current priorities is building an extensive network of underground defense and logistics facilities and command posts. Ukrainian warriors know what needs to be done. We need to provide them with the resources, equipment and materiel needed to make their work easier and more effective," Ukrainian Defense Minister Yevhenii Khmara said.

He also emphasized that Ukraine seeks to develop a mutually beneficial partnership with Norway. Areas of cooperation include exchanging technology and expertise and establishing joint ventures.

Earlier, Ukraine's partners announced several new defense initiatives. In particular, Norway and other countries pledged Gripen fighter jets, SCALP missiles, and a drone deal that includes fighter jet training and joint drone production.

As also reported, Norway had previously seized a Russian vessel over Naftogaz's $4.22 billion claim. Norway decided to enforce an arbitration ruling against Russia.
