At night on March 14, a Shahed-type drone flew over eastern Moldova. The Moldovan Border Police commented on the incident.
Where the drone flew
According to Moldovan and Ukrainian authorities, the drone flew over eastern Moldova in the direction of the villages of Ukrainka (Moldova) and Novosilka (Ukraine).
After that, it disappeared from radar. Ukrainian border guards clarified that the drone disappeared in the Cimișlia district, near the village of Troitske. The incident was also confirmed by the Aviation Operations Service of the Moldovan Ministry of Defense.
Moldovan border guards conducted patrols in the area where the drone was seen.
"So far, the Border Police patrols have not found any objects or elements that pose a threat to citizens' safety," the agency reported.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova described the drone flight as "a violation of Moldova's sovereignty and a threat to national security."
"Moldova strongly condemns such actions, as well as the aggressive war launched by Russia against Ukraine, which brings only losses and destruction, directly threatening regional security and the safety of Moldovan citizens," the ministry stated.
Recall that on the night of September 10, several Russian Shahed drones crossed the Ukrainian border and appeared in Polish airspace. Poland scrambled its aviation and put its air defense systems on the highest alert.
Earlier, Polish border guards found fragments of an unknown flying object near the border with Belarus. The drone had Cyrillic inscriptions.
