Unidentified flying object breaches Polish airspace again

Polish border guards reported finding debris of an unidentified flying object in a village near the border with Belarus. This is the latest in a series of similar incidents in the NATO member state, the Biała Podlaska police reports.
"Today, before 10:00 p.m., the officer on duty at the Terespol police station received a report from Border Guard officers about the discovery of debris from an unidentified flying object near the Terespol border crossing in Polatycze," the police wrote on September 7.
No one was injured as a result of the incident. Police are securing the site.
According to PAP, the debris was found in a cornfield.
Poland's reaction to Russian drones and missiles
Poland regularly deploys fighter jets during Russian missile strikes on Ukraine. At the same time, they do not shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine, nor aerial targets that cross into Polish territory.
Poland has been on high alert for airspace intrusions since 2022, when a missile struck a village in southern Poland, killing two people. That happened just months after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
On Saturday, September 6, an object, likely a drone, fell in eastern Poland, according to a Defense Ministry representative.
In August, a drone crashed into a cornfield in eastern Poland, destroying crops and shattering windows in nearby houses. The prosecutor investigating the incident said it most likely entered Poland from Belarus, Russia's ally.
Military drones have also flown into Romania and the Baltic states.
