Poland and its allied countries scrambled fighter jets in response to Russia’s large-scale missile and drone attack against Ukraine, according to a statement from the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces.

The statement noted that in response to aggressive activity and to ensure the security of Poland, all necessary procedures were immediately activated to strengthen the protection of Polish airspace.

“Patrolling by Polish and allied aircraft has begun, and ground-based air defense systems and radar surveillance have reached the highest level of combat readiness,” the statement said.

Polish military command emphasized that the measures taken are preventive in nature and aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens and protecting the national border, particularly in areas near the high-risk zone.

The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces continues to monitor the situation closely, and all assigned forces and assets remain on full alert, ready to respond immediately.

On the night of July 20 to 21, 2025, Russia’s long-range aviation launched another massive missile strike on Ukrainian territory. In addition, Russia deployed a large number of attack drones against Ukraine.

One of the main targets was the city of Kyiv, where multiple infrastructure sites were damaged and fires broke out.

Moreover, Shahed drones targeted the western city of Ivano-Frankivsk, which borders Poland. Explosions were heard in the city, and air defense systems are actively operating.
