Russia carried out a large-scale attack on Ukraine. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has called for tougher sanctions over Russia's refusal of peace negotiations, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reports.

"Another night of Russian terror in Ukraine. Kyiv and Odesa endured the heaviest attacks from hundreds of drones and ballistic missiles," he said.

"The Russians struck a maternity hospital and apartment buildings, killing and wounding civilians."

Sybiha said that Moscow is ignoring all attempts at a peaceful settlement and must face new, tough sanctions without delay.

"Energy measures — including lowering the oil price cap — along with banking restrictions and secondary sanctions are among the most sensitive levers," Sybiha emphasized.

He added that sanctions are needed not only to support Ukraine but also to protect its partners, since Russia's aggression threatens all of Europe.

Steps to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities also remain crucial, particularly additional deliveries of air-defense systems.
