Night assault by Shahed drones on Ukraine: Air Force reports downed drones
Russian forces launched another assault on Ukrainian territory overnight, February 10, using kamikaze drones similar to Shahed. Air defense forces destroyed 23 unmanned aerial vehicles, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"On the night of February 10, 2024, the enemy attacked with 31 Shahed-136/131 strike drones from Balaklava and Cape Chauda in Crimea, as well as from the Kursk region of the Russian Federation," the Ukrainian Air Force reported.
Anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine, and electronic warfare assets were deployed to repel the aerial assault.
As a result of the combat operations, 23 Shahed drones were destroyed within the Odesa and Kharkiv regions.
Attack of Shahed drones on February 10
Russian forces launched several groups of Shahed-type strike drones into Ukrainian territory from the northern and southern directions overnight from February 9 to February 10.
According to Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, strikes were recorded in the Nemyshlianskyi district of Kharkiv, resulting in damage to civilian infrastructure. It later became known that seven people, including several children, were killed in Kharkiv. Over 14 buildings were destroyed due to a severe fire.
Furthermore, Russian forces conducted night attacks on the Odesa region with strike drones, with a total of three waves of attacks recorded. The port infrastructure in the region was targeted. Preliminary information indicates four casualties in the region.
