Next round soon: Kremlin comments on upcoming Ukraine talks in United States

Press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that the next round of negotiations with Ukraine in the United States will take place very soon, according to Russian media reports.
Words of the Kremlin spokesperson were voiced in response to a question about whether Russia has an understanding regarding the place and date of negotiations, given Ukraine's agreement to hold a meeting in Miami next week.
"We expect that the second round will take place very soon. More precisely, it will already be the third. Next round will take place very soon," Peskov emphasized.
Peace negotiations on Ukraine
At the end of January and the beginning of February 2026, two rounds of negotiations between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia already taken place in Abu Dhabi. At the last meeting, according to Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, sides discussed methods of implementing the ceasefire and monitoring the cessation of hostilities.
In addition, according to information published in the media and based on public statements, the territorial issue effectively remains unresolved, namely, Donbas and Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
Reuters, citing its sources, reported that Ukraine and the United States discussed the possibility of concluding a peace agreement with Russia as early as March this year. However, interlocutors believe timelines may shift because territorial issues remain unresolved.
In addition, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy publicly stated that the United States proposes that the sides end the Russian war against Ukraine by the beginning of summer. He suggested that Americans will exert diplomatic pressure in connection with this schedule.
Zelenskyy also stated that the next round of peace negotiations with the participation of the United States will take place next week, on February 17 or 18. The territorial issue will be discussed there.
The president of Ukraine also emphasized that Kyiv is ready for negotiations in any location if this brings real results. According to him, options of meeting in Miami or Abu Dhabi are being considered, but Russia is still hesitating.
