Ukraine is ready for negotiations at any location if it brings real results. Options for a meeting in Miami or Abu Dhabi are currently being considered, but Russia is still hesitating, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this while answering journalists’ questions.

Russia’s reaction to the US proposal

The president said that the initiative for de-escalation in the energy sector was voiced by the US side during contacts in Abu Dhabi. However, instead of a ceasefire, Ukraine recorded a new wave of shelling.

"We have not received any response from the Russians. Rather, one should say the opposite: we received a response in the form of drones and missile attacks. This shows that they are not yet ready for an energy ceasefire," Zelenskyy emphasized.

Negotiations in Miami: Ukraine’s position

At the same time, the possibility of holding a meeting of delegations in Miami or returning to the Abu Dhabi format is being discussed. The initiative for talks in the US comes from Washington, and Kyiv has already given its confirmation. Meanwhile, the Russian side continues to delay its response.

The head of state noted that for Ukraine, the key factor is not the location of the meeting, but its real effectiveness.

"It doesn’t matter to us whether the meeting is in Miami or Abu Dhabi. The main thing is to achieve results," he said.

Negotiations and the energy pause

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the US had proposed holding the next round of talks between Ukraine and Russia in Miami, to which Kyiv has already given official consent.

The president also emphasized that there were no direct agreements with Russia regarding an energy ceasefire — it was entirely a US initiative, which Ukraine supported as a step toward de-escalation. However, he later noted that Russia violated these arrangements by resuming large-scale attacks during the coldest days of winter.
