New Lithuanian government arrives in Kyiv
The Lithuanian government, headed by Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas, has arrived in Kyiv, as the latter reported on X (Twitter). During the intergovernmental consultations, many important issues will be discussed, including Ukraine's membership in the European Union (EU) and NATO.
“It is a privilege & honor to be in Kyiv for my first visit as Prime Minister of Lithuania. At Kyiv’s Wall of Remembrance, with my Cabinet of Ministers, I paid my respects to the fallen heroes of Ukraine, men, and women who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of their country, and by that – for the freedom of Europe,” he wrote.
According to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, the intergovernmental consultations are expected to discuss
- defense and security of Europe;
- Ukraine's membership in the EU and NATO;
- the recovery program;
- further strengthening of sanctions against Russia;
- the issue of confiscation of Russian frozen assets;
- economic and trade cooperation between Ukraine and Lithuania.

Delfi, in their turn, adds that only the Minister of Finance Rimantas Šadžius did not go to Ukraine.
Lithuania's support for Ukraine
Lithuania is one of Ukraine's allies, providing significant military and humanitarian assistance. Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, Lithuania has provided hundreds of millions of dollars in military aid.
Vilnius also actively supports Ukrainian refugees, providing them with temporary protection, housing, medical and psychological assistance.
In late November, Lithuania handed over a new aid package to Ukraine. It included generators, spare parts for M113, and more.
