New important feature in Viber Dating: Who will benefit from it

Viber Dating, the dating service integrated into the popular messenger Viber, has introduced a new feature called "Hide contacts". It allows users to avoid awkward encounters with people from their contact list, as Viber's press release says.
The new option will be especially relevant in situations such as:
- The dating feed unexpectedly resembles a family gathering: a cousin or other relatives appear on the screen, and meetings with them on a dating platform would be inappropriate
- Among the matches are colleagues, suppliers, or clients. Business relationships rarely mix well with romance, and a failed date could lead to awkward situations at work
- Ex-partners or friends of former partners show up in the feed. Even if the breakup was peaceful, not everyone wants to continue interaction in a romantic context
To use the new feature, go to profile settings, select "Hide contacts," mark the desired numbers, and you're done. There is also a search function: if you recall a specific name, just find and hide it manually.
Soon, a "Hide all contacts" option will also be available — this will allow users to hide all entries from their address book with a single tap (if there are fewer than 100 contacts). Viber also plans to add the ability to hide entire groups and unsaved numbers from chats.
This feature makes Viber Dating the first platform to offer such a level of privacy and control over match suggestions. Users will be able to regularly update the hidden contacts list, especially as new participants appear in chats.
