New countries join Crimean Platform summit in New York

At the Fifth Crimean Platform Summit, which will take place at the UN headquarters in New York on September 24, 50 states and international organizations will participate, Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in Crimea Olha Kuryshko reported.
According to her, new countries are expected to join that have not previously participated in the Crimean Platform, but the exact list is not yet available.
Regarding the possible involvement of new countries, to some extent, this is also related to the fact that this year, the Crimean Platform will take place not in Ukraine.
The representation also noted that the key emphasis at this summit will be "the affirmation of common values of freedom, sovereignty, and international law."
It is noted that Crimea appears not only as an integral part of Ukraine but also as a "shield of global security" – a space on which the stability of the entire civilized world depends. Its de-occupation will mean the restoration of respect for the UN Charter and will become proof of the international community's ability to resist aggression, Kuryshko said.
Crimean Platform
The Crimean Platform is a diplomatic initiative launched by Ukraine five years ago. In 2020, during the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on member states to join in creating such a platform, which would operate permanently until Ukraine's sovereignty over Crimea is restored.
UN General Assembly
The 80th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly will begin in New York and last from September 23 to 29. It will be chaired by former German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock. The Ukrainian delegation at the General Assembly will be headed by President Zelenskyy.
Within the framework of Zelenskyy's visit to the United States, his meeting with American leader Donald Trump is also planned. More details on the expectations from Zelenskyy's trip to the US can be found in the material by RBC-Ukraine.
