Zelenskyy to travel to New York for UN General Assembly high-level week, says Foreign Ministry

He said that a top-level Ukrainian delegation headed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will travel to New York.

"One of the new elements this year is the holding of the fifth summit of the International Crimea Platform during the high-level segment. This is very symbolic, because with the return of Crimea to Ukraine, not only will territorial integrity be restored, but also respect for the UN Charter. That is our position," Tykhyi said.

He noted that this makes holding the Crimea Platform summit at UN headquarters absolutely logical.

Tykhyi also said that more than 20 bilateral meetings are planned, along with a series of events on the sidelines of the high-level segment with the participation of Ukraine’s leadership and the Foreign Ministry. These events will be aimed at consolidating international support, drawing attention to the consequences of Russian aggression, and promoting Ukraine’s image.

According to the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, special attention will also be drawn to the issue of the abduction of Ukrainian children by Russia. Another focus will be on holding Russia accountable for the crimes it has committed since 2014.

"There will, of course, be a separate program for the First Lady of Ukraine. It will be a very busy week, and we are actively preparing for it," Tykhyi added.

The UN General Assembly high-level week will take place from September 22 to 30.

Possible Zelenskyy-Trump meeting

Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that US President Donald Trump may meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to Rubio, such a meeting is likely to take place during the UN General Assembly high-level week.
