New aid to Ukraine could be one of most powerful things against Putin, Biden says
The $60 billion aid package for Ukraine under consideration by the US Congress is one of the most powerful tools against Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, states US President Joe Biden on X.
"One of the most powerful things we could do to stand up to Putin is pass the bipartisan National Security Bill and support Ukraine," Biden emphasizes.
The American president has reminded that the Senate has already passed the bill. He is confident that it will also pass the House of Representatives.
"The Speaker (of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson - Ed.) must call a vote," he adds.
US assistance to Ukraine
The US has been unable to provide new funding for assistance to Ukraine for several months.
Recently, the US Senate supported a bill that provides $60 billion for Ukraine. However, for it to take effect, the document must be supported by the House of Representatives and signed by President Joe Biden.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson is currently refusing to bring the initiative to a vote. He wants assistance to Ukraine to be voted on in connection with border security funds.
Recently, Biden stated that he was ready to meet with Johnson to discuss assistance to Ukraine.
