The Netherlands will complete the delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine on Monday, May 26. Tomorrow, the last of the promised aircraft will be handed over, according to Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans during a broadcast of WNL op Zondag.

According to him, on May 26, the Netherlands will send the final one of the 24 promised F-16 fighter jets.

"This means that all 24 promised fighter jets will soon be in Ukraine," Brekelmans said.

F-16 for Ukraine

Recall that the Netherlands, Denmark, and Belgium have led an aviation coalition to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets.

In July 2024, the Netherlands completed the export authorization for 24 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. By August, it became known that Ukraine had received the first aircraft. It was not disclosed which countries and how many fighter jets were provided to the Ukrainian military.

That same month, Ukraine lost its first received fighter jet during the repelling of a massive Russian attack on August 26. The experienced Ukrainian pilot Oleksii Mes "Moonfish" died in the air crash.

At the end of last year, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the second batch of F-16s from Denmark had arrived in Ukraine.

At the beginning of the year, Zelenskyy, after a conversation with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, announced new deliveries of F-16s.
