Netherlands to deploy Patriot and NASAMS systems in Poland

The Netherlands will station Patriot and NASAMS air defense systems in Poland, along with counter-drone assets, to strengthen the protection of NATO’s eastern border, the Dutch Ministry of Defense reports.
In particular, the Defense Ministry stated that starting December 1, the Netherlands would deploy Patriot, NASAMS, and counter-drone systems in Poland to further reinforce air defense and protect a key logistics hub supporting Ukraine.
Earlier, the reports indicated that the Netherlands would send two Patriot systems and about 300 troops to Poland as part of NATO’s mission to assist Ukraine with security and training (NSATU).
Drones over EU countries
In recent weeks, a number of drone incursions have been recorded over Denmark, Poland, and Romania. In addition, Russian fighter jets have violated Estonian airspace.
On September 27, Denmark confirmed that unknown drones had been spotted overnight over several Ministry of Defense facilities. Two days earlier, drones had been detected over Danish airports in Aalborg, Esbjerg, Sønderborg, and the Skrydstrup Air Base.
On September 29, Denmark launched joint Wings of Defense exercises with Ukrainian forces, during which counter-drone tactics against strike UAVs are being practiced.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that his country is ready to destroy any hostile objects that enter its airspace. The UK Ministry of Defense issued the same warning.
RBC-Ukraine also reported that Russia cynically rejected accusations of airspace violations. The Kremlin claimed there were allegedly no violations and that Russian military aircraft fly “strictly within international rules.”
