The Netherlands will allocate a new financial aid package for Ukraine, aimed at restoring the country's energy infrastructure, Dutch Foreign Minister David van Weel said during his visit to Kyiv.

He said that the Netherlands will provide 25 million euros for equipment, emergency repairs, and gas purchases for Ukraine. He also emphasized that maintaining strong pressure on Russia remains vital.

Van Weel also announced that the Netherlands will take part in the initial stages of establishing a Special Tribunal for the crime of Russian aggression.

"We must ensure that Russia's war crimes do not go unpunished," the Dutch Foreign Minister added.

What Ukraine's Foreign Ministry says

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha informed his Dutch counterpart about the situation on the battlefield and the consequences of the latest Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Sybiha also outlined Ukraine's current needs to strengthen its air defense and stabilize the energy sector ahead of the winter season.

"We highly appreciate the support of the Netherlands, including military assistance worth over 13 billion euros. The Netherlands also became the first country to contribute 500 million euros under the PURL initiative. Thank you for this decisive step and your leadership," Andrii Sybiha said.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a memorandum was signed on joint drone production worth 200 million euros.

In addition, the ministers discussed holding Russia accountable for its crime of aggression against Ukraine and for war crimes.

"I highly appreciate the leadership of the Netherlands and my colleague personally in promoting the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression and in supporting the international compensation mechanism," Sybiha emphasized.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed Ukraine's European integration. Andrii Sybiha thanked the Netherlands for its unwavering support on the path toward EU membership, emphasizing that this process is crucial to peace and stability on the continent.

The ministers agreed on further joint peace initiatives, underlining that ending the war is only possible through unity and strength.

"Strengthening Ukraine, increasing pressure on the aggressor, and raising the cost of war — that is the path to a just peace," Sybiha noted.

Today, Dutch Foreign Minister David van Weel arrived in Kyiv for a visit. He emphasized that his country will continue to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia.
