Negotiating groups of Ukraine are working with countries of the Global South and the United States on the exchange of prisoners of war, the return of children and citizens of other states, as well as preparing platforms for future meetings of leaders, according to President Zelenskyy’s statement during a briefing.

"As for the negotiation process. Right now, our team is working along the line of Qatar – Saudi Arabia – Türkiye – UAE – Switzerland – United States. That is, apart from America – the Global South," the president explained.

He emphasized that this was his task for the National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov and Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak for this week.

"There is a bilateral track there. All these countries where our delegation is present, they all helped with the issue of prisoner of war exchanges, the return of children. Also, with the return of some captives taken prisoner by the Russians who are citizens of other countries. And all these platforms are now being worked through by our team," Zelenskyy explained.

The president noted that positive results are being recorded there.

"I will receive the full briefing on Saturday evening. Regarding these countries as potential platforms for future meetings of leaders in bilateral or trilateral format," he added.

Zelenskyy also said that next week, there will be a European track.

"I think we will be organizing at the level of leaders. Because some points regarding security guarantees need to be clarified. So I believe we will have several meetings on different platforms. I think at the level of leaders, I would call it our Washington group, and other groups of European leaders, we will be meeting," the head of Ukraine concluded.

Meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin

Moscow once again raised the possibility today of a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Putin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov once again stated that Putin does not rule out the possibility of meeting with Zelenskyy.

Peskov’s statement came against the backdrop of remarks by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who said that the meeting between Zelenskyy and Putin, which European leaders had expected by the end of this month, will not take place.

Meanwhile, President Zelenskyy earlier stated that Ukraine is ready for a meeting with Russia at the level of leaders, but Moscow continues its aggression and puts forward new conditions.
