NATO countries may respond to the joint military exercises of Russia and Belarus, West, which are scheduled for the fall of 2025. The Alliance's response will depend on several factors, stated Lithuania's Foreign Minister, Kęstutis Budrys, LRT.

Budrys noted during the meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels that certain actions were planned depending on what would be observed on the other side, including the Russian and Belarusian forces involved in the exercises, and that this would certainly not go unnoticed.

The official clarified that he would not want to go into details about how exactly the Alliance would respond, but emphasized that such efforts are taken seriously within NATO.

The Lithuanian Foreign Minister emphasized that they would assess the type of troops involved, their size, and geographical location, and NATO would formulate its own presence or response based on this.

Russia and Belarus military exercises

Last fall, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin announced joint military exercises West-2025 with Russia, which will take place on Belarusian territory.

Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, suggested that during such exercises, Russian and Belarusian soldiers might conduct movements toward the Ukrainian border.

By the way, recently, Germany, as part of its strategy to deter Russia, began deploying its armored brigade in Lithuania.
